Can Medicine Be Cured by Seamus O'Mahony - really appreciated listening to this although I'd suggest you read the physical copy rather than the audiobook! This is a meticulous critique of medical care in the western world and its approach in modern society, how it's kind of lost the run of itself.

Can Medicine Be Cured?, Seamus O’Mahony’s latest book is a very readable excoriation of contemporary medicine which appears to have lost its way. As the medical profession endeavours to manage increasing life expectancy and societal consumerism we become careless of things that can’t be measured like compassion and professionalism thus allowing managers, politicians and our patients to make anti-harlots of us all (more on that later).

The book would be a wonderful course book for medical students providing much material to discuss and debate. It is well written and provides many practical and illuminating insights alongside many nudges towards material of keen relevance by important medical and philosophical thinkers such as Ivan Illich, Thomas McKeown, Lewis Thomas, John Gray, Richard Smith and Richard Asher.

O’Mahony’s book is titled Can Medicine Be Cured? He doesn’t give a yes or no answer, but he is pessimistic about the profession’s capacity for reform. “Leadership” has become the standard solution to reform of medicine and healthcare, and he goes along with the idea—but says the leadership must not be “limp-wristed virtue signalling,” and he cannot see where it will come from.

This compelling book is the result of 17 years spent tracking these people down and verifying their stories.

Obviously, according to conventional medical wisdom, diseases like cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s don’t have a foolproof cure. So where is 81 Natural Cures For Cancer, Diabetes & Alzheimer's getting this information? Essentially, the book claims that the US government has been secretly curing Alzheimer’s for years in patients. However, “Big Pharma” has been suppressing the cure for Alzheimer’s because they make billions of dollars from Alzheimer’s drugs.
